PLEDGE AGAINST TICKET SCALPING: PUTTING FANS FIRST

We, the undersigned performers of live sporting, music, theater and other entertainment events are sick and tired of the best seats to popular events being siphoned off for sale at prices several times the face price printed on the ticket.

We are fed up that fans and consumers of average means are priced out of good seats and often cannot afford to attend live events at all,

We are outraged that virtually all of the larger venues and many smaller venues for live sports, music, theater and other entertainment were originally built, renovated and/or operate with various public subsidies paid for by taxpayers and consumers and yet most of the folks who pay cannot afford a ticket to get on the inside.

We believe that various state “experiments” with repealing their anti-scalping laws are a failure and that scalping has caused the face price of tickets to go up well above the consumer price index

These difficult economic times strain the ability of average Americans to find affordable entertainment activities and ticket scalping puts tickets to popular events out of reach for many.

We believe that our fans must come first and that ticket scalping is unfair.
Therefore we are joining in the fight against ticket scalping and pledge to do what we can to help.

LETTER TO NY STATE LAWMAKERS

To the Honorable Governor David E. Paterson
To the Honorable Speaker Sheldon Silver
To the Honorable Majority Leader Malcolm Smith

We, the undersigned performers of live sporting, music, theater and other entertainment events are sick and tired of the best seats to popular events being siphoned off for sale at prices several times the face price printed on the ticket.

We are writing on behalf of our fans, and all fans or music, arts and entertainment, in an effort to ask you to reinstate the ticket scalping ban in New York state.

Fans are being priced out of their favorite shows, with tickets selling as much as 500 percent above face value. Such scalping hurts fans, who just want to support their bands.
